The overall market is tanking today, not just AMBS. How much of our decline today is related to the overall market and how much is related to disappointment with what's been presented at the conference so far is hard to measure – probably some combination of both. There's also the recent attention by the Money Runners group to consider. It's hard to believe today's 40% decline wasn't influenced in some part by their involvement.
As a long-term investor, price drops like today tests my conviction. The great news we expected hasn't materialized yet. The conference is running behind schedule, and Gerald is scheduled to speak later. Perhaps we'll get the news we were expecting after market close, or tomorrow. If Gerald's excitement over the conference was only related to maintaining the "scientific integrity" of the data, I will certainly be disappointed in the unmet expectations we all had based on what has been released by the company and Gerald's own statements.
That being said, the day isn't over yet, and I will wait to see what unfolds later today or tomorrow before I get upset. It was a great day for picking up cheap shares for those trading or those with powder to burn. Unfortunately, I'm already fully invested, so I wasn't able to take advantage of the massive drop in share price from the recent highs.
I maintain my confidence in the long-term outlook for this investment, but days like today leave me scratching my head.
