A Newell acquisition of EWSI would make sense from their standpoint. Their website has e-scrap as a strategy. And assuming they're savvy, profitable folks, it would add needed credibility to EWSI's business plan, plus funding, additional expertise and manpower . Too bad though that Marty didn't book $20 mil for Q4 2013 and been able to demonstrate a run rate of $50 mil for 2014 in which case he'd be acquiring them - the kind of acquisition(s) we were all hopeful for way back when.
Why would Marty get acquired now? His ego and plan I doubt had this as a strategy so soon, until maybe China didn't happen in a timely fashion and the PPS tanked. Out of money? PPS too low to use dilution effectively anymore? Wants out of the game with some dough in his pocket? Who knows.
Could explain the silent period for so long, I guess. The deal could easily be taking 6 months. But even so, Marty could have kept in better touch on milestones over the last 2 quarters to keep the PPS up and get a better price. Or maybe he does want out and let the PPS fall cause Newell couldn't afford EWSI otherwise.
Anyone want to hazard a guess what such a merger would do to the PPS?
