It may be a tactical move:
1. To allow "benefactor" LPC opportunity to collect more shares at faster pace, if they have not collected enough.
2. To use the delay as a leverage in on-going partnership negotiation or there may be a new interested potential partner offering some favourable terms for the rights to examine certain data (covered under NDA) in private first
Note that Gerald needs to front multiple groups of stakeholders. Sometimes he may leverage on, e.g. public (e.g. releasing good news) to add pressure on potential partners to close deals, sometimes he did the reverse (e.g. withholding good news) to the benefit of other stakeholders, but to the temporary "dismay" of public shareholders, but for overall benefit of the company. This is what any shrewd businessman will do. Public shareholders would not know what is happening at the back of the scene.
As some said, Gerald has been very transparent at large. Let's give him the benefit of doubt at this point.
The interim data tomorrow is much more critical and decisive to AMBS. The wait is only one more day.
