Well folks, I thought the E Scrap article was an interesting summation of EWSI history, and pulled together more facts in one place then I've ever scene, for a nice overview and perspective. And I don't like the feeling it left me with.
I am now increasingly convinced that unless Martie pulls a rabbit out of a hat this week to justify his many words and to avoid down listing we have a company which is at worst a total scam or at best run by an inadequate CEO and staff with pie in the sky ideals and no acumen to make them happen.
Peterson is a joke! Clearly neither professional nor experienced in E-Waste, something I said months ago after reading her resume. She is not the business person for the responsibilities she has and not someone who will lead her portion of the business to great heights, plain and simple, business 101. And this is very troublesome. Bad decision by Marty just as Mr. Shaw apparently was. If a CEO does not populate his key positions with strong horsepower something's terribly wrong. I'm thinking anyone with half a brain would have seen through his scam. He gave her this position cause he knew he couldn't get anyone sharp and she'd make a good patsy.
Marty has shown that he's not only not infallible but capable of very sketchy and poor business decisions. It doesn't seem there is one decision he has made that reflects a smart, positive move for EWSI that people say "wow, good move, that guy is sharp", witness the article doesn't mention one, and I feel the article was quite balanced and fair.
And I'm sick of hearing how huge the e waste business is as if this very fact guarantees success to all that enter. Marty has never delineated any specific, better mousetrap ideas or plans that indicate he's one step ahead of the crowd, something his rhetoric implies. Except maybe the China piece which looks to have failed. Yes this industry will grow huge but the roadside will be littered with corpses who thought they had it figured out. It's time that if Marty has a silver bullet he let us know and stop hiding behind an "I don't want the competition to know" excuse. It's time to show your hand, do you have a full-house or are you bluffing. Evidence is building toward the latter.
What perhaps was most telling is that Marty does not impress others in the e-waste space. They seem to have no respect for him and are even critical of his statements. This is very troubling indeed. If your experienced peers imply your a jack-off then what are we to think? And don't simply say they are competition and wouldn't say otherwise. Remember there is plenty of room for all in this industry and I see no threat he poses to those interviewed. He is evidently not the rising industry star we thought last fall.
Sad part is even if he's sincere and trying his best there is no evidence he's getting anywhere, quite the contrary. Consider me ever more disheartened.
