Provides protection to politicians and gives direction to city staff. Also required by provincial government and prevents legal liabilities.
Most municipalities have an official plan and that is the basis on which decisions are made. The problem being the MMJ is new and HC will not share their requirements with munipalities.
It is smart for Lakeshore to amend their Official City Plan. It would also btw bind the next city council in case everyone gets thrown out in the October election.
Council made it clear it was not about Cen Biotech but the industry. It was difficult to avoid discussing Cen Biotech because so many in the audience were there because of the company.
