In these matters, it usually comes down to "whose ox is being gored."** Nothing much more that. I have yet to see an outpouring of either anger toward SEC or empathy for shareholders regarding all those fledgling gold mining stocks, the scads of China-related firms, and the numeous nascent technology companies the SEC has banished to the Greys in 2014 with questions. But, when the SEC touches MY MMJ stock, it's a dastardly conspiracy running deep.
