I believe Rx is actually an abbreviation of a latin word that translates to recipe. Before pharmaceuticals existed herbalists and healers had to mix compounds from a recipes. Not that it really matters though, this is just my meaningless contribution to an old conversation that may come in handy during an intense session of Trivial pursuit.
