Three possible explanations regarding Google I/O that I can think of.
1. It was possible that Google was going to announce NTEK in some manner. And they still may since the two companies named didn't even begin their development of OTT boxes yet. (correct me if I am wrong, I don't think they did)
2. The explanation given by NTEK as to why the tweet was made was sincere. They were bringing awareness to the direction of the industry in general.
3. A planned pump in which BIG was enlightened. Prior to the "tweet" stock was put on high alert on FB. During run-up "this will be a day to remember".
My belief is number 1.
