But wouldn't my finding be a positive? If the new CEO is interested in running a legit public company, don't you think he would want to act in accordance of all applicable laws?

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, maybe he didn't know about copyright violations? If so, maybe now he knows and will correct this matter promptly.
