I keep going back to "scrutiny". If Matt is about to file for the preferred, get the funds from the preferred, buy the brokerage, then he would have to have a "clean slate". The parts of the website taken down, under scrutiny, may be perceived as "false advertising".  So he removed those portions., updated the current status, and put to rest any hypothesis running around.

He may be at "square one", but maybe that is where this needs to be to move forward.
