I disagree with your "binary" assessment.

There is plenty of room between JB's initial claims and a totally unprofitable system.

I think the system will be marginally profitable for a limited number of customers. There will be some sales. The doors will stay open.

Perhaps over time the the system will become more efficient through experience and automation.

The doors will only shut if no buyers can be found. I would not be betting on that.
