Not all has come up empty. The plane is in pieces getting the maintenance done. So long as that continues we are in good shape. The FAA is still playing ball with them. Kalitta wouldn't be sacrificing hangar space for their health - if it's a dead end Baltia will be trying not to let the door hit them on the ass on the way out.
As I've said before I'm still cautiously optimistic. Until we hear that something went wrong in maintenance there's no reason to fret quite yet.
As far as waiting until after maintenance to resume the simulator training goes, initially that irked me. Thinking about it logically it makes sense. The pilots will establish currency in the simulator which gives them a limited window to get in the air before they have to do it all over again. For instance, if they had completed the training at the beginning of the year they wouldn't have maintained currency through the maintenance process. Creating double the work and double the expense.
