This topic has been done many times. You can think it is uninformed if you like. I can't remember the last time I went to a company site, or even a meeting. I only would if it was convenient. I agree that talking to CEOs and other executives is a good idea, but not really necessary. I own anywhere from 40-60 stocks and my choices are driven by the numbers and macroeconomics. I am sure that John Bordynuik is a very convincing guy, and that may be the main problem. Like any buying process, it is easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment and made a bad decision. I always sleep on big decisions (cars, houses, etc). The bigger decision, the more "sleeps". I am sure that I would have felt positive emotions if I had been at the first AGM on a plant tour, with that fuel being freshly poured and the tanker parked outside ready to go, with John promising production in a matter of weeks, after getting that permit.

So no, we have a different idea of what DD is. I don't let emotions get into play. I let the numbers speak. It works for me. I don't really do "DD", which seems to be self-assurance after the fact (the buying decision is made). I choose stocks based on the numbers, validate my decision further based on macroeconomic/ microeconomic trends, and I don't usually look back.

and IMO these boards are all about opinions. Anybody can read a financial statement, not everybody has life or work experience that may be applicable to a stock.
