Tech selloff takes down Apple, Microsoft
AMD, Marvell fall hard on lowered outlook; Google falls again
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Tech stocks sunk lower by midday Friday, pushed down by disappointing results from Microsoft Corp. and a sharp drop by several chip stocks and PC makers, along with a broad-based sell-off.
Even Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) felt the pinch, losing more than 2.2% to come on pace to hit its lowest closing price since early August.

The Nasdaq Composite Index (NASDAQ:COMP) shed nearly 2% by midday to stand at 3,011. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (NPI:SOX) gave up more than 2.7%, while the Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index (NAR:MSH) was off nearly 1.5%. The Dow fell more than 170 points.
