Stock futures flat; Verizon, jobless claims eyed
MADRID (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock-market futures struggled to make headway Thursday, with earnings from Nokia Corp., Verizon Communications Inc. and Morgan Stanley in focus and with data including weekly jobless claims and leading indicators on tap.

In addition, some observers said futures were pricing in some disappointment as a two-day European Union summit kicked off. Chinese gross-domestic-product data, meanwhile, largely met forecasts.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average (CBOT JZ2) rose 4 points to 13,493, while those for the Standard & Poor’s 500 index (GLC:SPZ2) fell 1.4 points to 1,455.80.
Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index (CME:NDZ2) fell 2.25 points to 2,768.25.
