I don't understand where this aggressive selling is coming from (12:1 sell to buy today), given the recent news. Most longs will be well down, so what's the point of selling just to recover a small fraction of your initial outlay, when you should have been prepared to lose the lot of in the first place.
There must be more to it. I also don't buy the argument about people needing it to pay tax bills, etc.
The L2 is a joke, with the MMs inserting extra lines even as trades are executed, so in effect any bunches of shares below the current bid and ask will either disappear or change before they are ever executed, hence you are no better off than with just L1 info. It does add up the sells and buys I suppose, but you could do this manually and much cheaper! This wasn't happening a year ago, and you could see the bid/ask change logically as the bids came in. Now it's effectively almost random.
What's the lowest price it can go to in the pinks by the way, before the shares get suspended?
