Delta, I'm sticking around, but the biggest concern to me has nothing to do with the so-called report with Delta and AA talking to Pulkovo. It's that the biggest thing Baltia has going for it is that the route is exclusive. Without that exclusive route, the company drowns. We can talk about how long this all has taken, or whether maintenance is done, or when we're going to be totally certified, and all that. But ultimately, the business plan was for Baltia to be the EXCLUSIVE carrier for 3 years on this route and any other former Soviet direct routes they could muster, which would hopefully be enough to get them up and running. Am I mistaken?
It seems like we all got so caught up in every step along the way, that we most of us never took the time to look into this exclusivity and ensure that this was in fact the case. Is there any way of verifying that we have 3 years? 1 year? 0 years? I know I was under the impression (and this is my own fault for not looking deeper), that as soon as we were wheels up, it was our route for 3 years. Exclusive direct flights that no one else could touch. Take that away and what do we have? The concern to me is not that those airlines have been talking, it's if they can talk. Those airlines could probably have that route up and running in a couple of weeks if they were allowed to, so we'd get blown out of the water.
Maybe I could be overanalyzing it, but if we don't have that exclusive route, what else is there? How can we verify if we have it, how long we have it, and when the timeline starts?
