I am ok with a 1 year exclusive, if the alternative is no exclusive at all.
However, for the longest time I heard "bi-lateral agreement" and "3 year exclusive."
For myself, a 1 year exclusive is just giving the first guy in the time to experience the learning curve.....and to give any competitors a chance to enter the market a year down the road and not have to re-experience all the mistakes that the first guy made..................
In other words, a 1 year exclusive doesn't really appear as a money making monopoly in my book. By the time you work out all the kinks, the competitors can come in and give you a run for your money.
