One thing that I can assure you since I have been to NITE a number of times (now KCG since their merger with Getco and formerly Knight Capital Group) is that there are NO traders talking to each other.  NITE is 100% algorithmic and 100% automated.  Their trading floor is a data center full of servers.  There are no humans that are making trading decision, just programmers developing and coding algorithms.
