Weedman, I harbor that thought nearly every day! 
I've recently inherited a 150 year-old shillelagh from real blackthorn.....and it may as well be petrified....like swinging a six pound steel rod.....with big knobbies which would make nice indentations.
Problem is most of those MMs today are friggin' algos hiding in dark corners.
