While I've never been in an airline certification process, I do have experience in aviation maintenance and I've read through the C-Check process pretty extensively. I've also read up on the D "heavy" check and have been through those as well (although we call them "phase maintenance inspections"). The C-Check isn't that big of a deal. Every operator completes them on every plane that they introduce into their fleet. It's similar in nature to an FAA "annual" inspection which every airplane in the national registry completes annually.
The big check that everyone is worried about is routine. In my organization we put aircraft through those inspections frequently and not one time have I ever seen one "scrapped" or replaced as a result. Yes, it is very probable that they find things that need to be fixed (I would question the maintenance team if they DIDN'T find anything) but that is the point of the inspection. They keep the airplane airworthy and replace things that need replaced. For an operator, scheduled maintenance is far cheaper and less cumbersome than unscheduled maintenance. These checks are good for the plane and good for the Company. Yes, the cost will be high, but those clowns on iHub are kidding themselves if they think that Baltia (especially with Kalitta's advice) haven't factored that in.
