It's never too late to start! I'm a private pilot and am going to get my instrument this summer. Only drawback is how expensive it is for training.
The starship is very sweet! My favorite is the Piaggio Avanti. I had a girlfriend when I was younger and her dad had one. Been in love with it ever since. Hope to be able to get one of those in the future with my FITX shares, but I may have to settle for a Beechcraft D-17 :p
