This was a post from the hub last year from someone:
I'm really interested in this Jamaica-Cuba connection. Even if Dutv is not the company poised to rake in the profits, some company out there is and I'd like to know...but is it possible that JNAP had facilities and fiber optics that are still in use?
There was a company TeleCuba back in 2009 ready to lay the fiber optic cable from Fl to Cuba. They contracted Great Eastern to complete it, and that's all I know about it. However remote, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Dutv (or some other company) may have acquired the rights to that connection. You negs will lol, but it's even possible that Torq revenues, if actual, could have been used to acquire the cable and/or the rights. Some positive posts trying to nail this down are in order imo.
I've already read where the US gov is taking bids on (another? the first?) fiber optic line from Fl-Cuba.. as I understand it to be for military use (not sure here).
TIA
