Re: junebug #12828
Where is the HEMP news at?  Haven't seen it myself.

JB, Hemp itself refers to the fibrous strands of the hemp (marijuana plant).  The strands have long been used to make rope, clothing etc.  Very beneficial to the textile industry.  A typically hemp plant contains FAR less THC (the chemical that gives you a high) than a cultivated marijuana plant.  They are however classified as the same thing, which is where the law holds back basic hemp farming.  Separating the two is difficult. Plant looks the same (although folks know how to make some super strong strains that can make you forget how to fish! lol), so how do you regulate fairly at a government level is the problem.

Picture you're Tom Sawyer and you smoke corn silk in your pipe.  It doesn't do nothing, it's just your basic corn plant.  But then there is this other variety of corn and it's silk makes you all tingly when you smoke.  The government bans corn because of what one variety can do and now all corn is illegal, even though there is good corn too.

Hope that helps a little.
