My fear is that the good people of Berkeley Bio aren't as much in the loop as they think they are, through no fault of their own. It is often very tough for good people that get involved with bad people to actually come to grips that the bad people are bad. Trust, as you say, is paramount. If Benz wasn't in the country and someone's uncle back-doors a deal behind HIS back, why should BBIO think they know what's happening? I really appreciate Dave's strong comments btw, but this challenge is larger than them at this point. I'd bet anything that BBIO was horrified that someone transferred some of their life work from the mother ship.
