I would only refer to Polonius, father of Ophelia and Laertes, as he observes Hamlet and comments (as an aside): "Though this be madness, yet there is method in it." In modern parlance, "There's a method to the seeming madness that isn't madness at all.

Method: "A way, technique, or process of or for doing something."
