Agree. BIG news can come any time. Trading carries risk of chasing and/or being out in cold on merger/forward split. There is also that huge 40%+ federal tax bite (not including any state cap gains tax if applicable) on short term gains (< 1 year). Short term rates a painful sting compared to modest long term (>1 year) tax rates.
