a lot of people visit the San Diego -LA corridor during winter to fight the winter blues- just that small section of CA coast in the west that has really nice winter weather-
the east coast and N Europe is spoiled by the warm coastal current all the way to New York plus and Norway - in the west the cooler warm current is replaced by a cold Pacific current N of Catalina Island and Santa Barbara,so its just a ca 100 mile strip of good winter weather where some go to the beach even in jan- one jan it was 91 degrees when I arrived -long before I knew about CWRN
like Ensenada and the mine there is very little rain, and usually snow only on the highest mountaintops S of LA
