Lose the battle but win the war. The fact that ASA fought the D E A all the way to the Supreme Court (which let lower ruling stand)  over sched 1 shows what stuff the ASA is made of. They were virtually alone then. Now they've got 82% of Americans and 21 states and counting (plus DC) behind their cause. When sched 1 finally falls, it will be in no small measure due to the pathway blazed by the ASA.
