China: spot iron ore prices surge

China steel futures rose sharply for a second day on Monday, supported by hopes that Beijing's approval of more than $150 billion in infrastructure projects would resuscitate steel demand, providing fuel for a recovery in iron ore prices.
Price offers for imported iron ore cargoes in China rose by up to $8 per tonne on Monday.
