Amazon at all-time high ahead of Kindle Fire event
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) – Shares of Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) reached an all-time on Thursday, ahead of the expected release of the new version of its Kindle Fire tablet. Amazon shares were last trading up 2.2% at $251.59, shortly after reaching an intraday high of $251.99. The online retailer is gearing up for an event in Los Angeles in which it is expected to unveil a new Kindle Fire, Amazon’s bid to play a significant role in a rapidly growing mobile market. Amazon shares have risen 45% since the beginning of the year.
