Coming up: Weekly jobless claims
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The Labor Department will release key data on first-time filings for state unemployment benefits at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. Weekly jobless claims likely fell a slight 1,000 to 373,000, according to a MarketWatch survey. Claims were unchanged at 374,000 last week and continue to “drift” in a range of 365,000 to 385,000, said Thomas Simons, money market economist at Jefferies & Co. “Much like the overall economy, there is no momentum here one way or the other,” he said after last week’s report.
