I hope your optomism plays out Perchy. I can't imagine Steve wanting to destroy his image he has built up with CC and the Hollywood people who let him have access to their stars by bankrupting  this company or just walking away from it and having a ton of legal processes started against him. That would make those folks run away from him in a heartbeat. They do not like to do business with people who have a lot of drama associated with them or legal entanglements. Just  not good business.  It is in his best  interest to try to make something out of this mess if not to do any thing but save  his reputation with the industry.
