Drilling through the packer at this juncture is considered ill-advised due to the depth and theoretical tilt. We would have to cement over the packer and then drill through it which could damage the structural integrity of the well. We've mentioned this before in a few newsletters.
As someone mentioned, we could have drilled a new well, but at this point the Company has invested money into San Juan #3 but the cost to remove the packer hasn't been anywhere near as large as the drilling expenses (although the amount of time to remove the packer has been an issue).
