AIS receivers are very scattered so they offer the equipment to those who presumably will maintain it-doing that in Europe also-- note that out of the scores of ships I've followed NONE of them ever showed a great circle route inclination within range of the receivers prior to the ship that went to Alaska- which was a set up

Sunbay doesnt show great circle here either -shows it actually coming from the S a little if i remember or directly west-not Alaska-though I know it went to Alaska as part of the great circle -so these sites often present misleading info
