U.S. stocks close lower, halt 2-day winning streak
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stocks finished with moderate losses on Tuesday, ending a two-day winning streak for the Dow industrials and S&P 500. The market felt some pressure from Federal Reserve officials giving fresh warnings about a potential stimulus reduction, as well as from a decline in small-business sentiment. The S&P 500 (SNC:SPX) fell 4.21 points, or 0.2%, to 1,767.68, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI
JIA) lost 32.43 points, or 0.2%, to 15,750.67, retreating from Monday’s record close. The Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:COMP) was essentially unchanged, edging higher by 0.13 point to 3,919.92.
