Accredited Transcription Corp. previously acquired full ownership of United States Patent 6,298,328 . ATC retained the Law Offices of Randall S. Newman, P.C., of New York, to protect its intellectual rights. ATC believes that its technology is being infringed upon by many entities and that it is entitled to residual royalties . Many companies are currently using what appears to be ATC's technology, with slight modifications and improvements, albeit without paying royalties including Google, Apple (Siri), Samsung, and Vlingo Inc. The technology is being used by companies ranging from fast food restaurants for their drive through windows to medical and legal transcription services.
