Definitely a safe place to visit. I would go back there before I would go back to thailand (which is also safe, the people just suck). I didn't try any mushrooms but they were definitely available. It is legal for businesses to cook weed and shrooms into their food so I was eating at the place that sold "happy pizza" almost everyday. I would eat some pizza and have a "happy milkshake" and feel pretty good. 

They are building a lot of infrastructure from what I can see and they seem to really be trying to distance themselves from the rest of SE Asia so they can attract more tourism. I'm thinking about buying an apartment there lol. It's still pretty cheap.
