I totally agree with you Zoofire about Florida politics. It really angers me also. It is like living in a foreign country. I moved down here from Chicago because the State of IL taxed me out of my house during the Financial crisis at a time when the news was saying one thing to the public and the State was doing another. When everyone was losing their homes, the State decided it was a good idea to triple my taxes. Overnight my taxes became more than my mortgage payment. I came about a month from having to walk away from my house because I couldn't afford paying my $10,000 tax bill. Luckily someone bought my house, but I had to sell for $100K less than what I paid just to get out.
That is when we packed up and left for Florida. Funny how people from up North have an idea in their heads about how great it would be to live in Florida with all the sunshine and the beaches. But living here is completely different than the fantasy that is in our heads. I really think that the reason that everyone seems so incredibility stupid to me down here is because of the fluoride in the water. Down here it's hot all the time so people drink a lot of water. More water - more fluoride in their brains. Plus I found that the schools here are terrible also. When we sent our son to school here we found that he was 2-3 years ahead of what they were doing. I really think it is deliberate that they are dumbing the population.
Just this morning I discovered the State sold or gave my personal info to private companies. I looked at the mail and the junk mail had my full legal name on it. I am renting and all my bills including my credit card bills don't have my legal name. I shortened my name a long time ago and the only place who uses my full legal name is the Department of Motor Vehicles. And I really don't want to go into the horror stories about what it took to get my drivers license down here, but believe me it was a horror. But my point is they sold or gave my info to private companies. I am really pissed about that.
Yesterday and the day before the Huffington Post has been doing an expose on Florida's private prison system - Prisoners of Profit - a real eye opener on how the less fortunate are treated down here.

I really hope that Morgan gets the pot issue on the ballot down here, but lately I am seriously thinking of moving to another state. I love the beach and it will be really hard for me to leave that, but I am pretty fed up with the sad state of affairs here.
