On the contrary, did you know both Rev. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson have announced their support for legalization of mj and an end to the war on drugs which they condemn  for incarcerating millions? Legalization draws support from many people now across the whole rainbow. People have changed but govt lags. I think the latter  got used to the multibillions for prisons, enforcement, forfeiture etc.
