They now need experts in each type of trial, experts in each diagnosis, to streamline trial design and advise thru trial completion. That is part of the work of the Contract Research Organization. The CRO also helps choose sites and networks with the clinical research staff of the sites. They advise on FDA communication and pay close attention to the red tape involved in all hospital research contracts and all FDA applications. Their payroll just got huge, but keeping this in-house will save some bucks.
