In 1996 Gold founded San Francisco’s first new, legal medical cannabis dispensary, Dharma Producers Group in San Francisco, after the passage of Prop 215, under the watchful eye of SF District Attorney Terence Hallinan. After several incarnations, Dharma has since developed into the non-profit collective Dharma Care and Hospice Program, which provides free high-quality cannabis medicine to those Californians who are terminally ill and cannot afford the cannabis medicine prescribed by their doctor.
