U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Grants Vonage Two More Patents

HOLMDEL, N.J. - July 9, 2013 - Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE: VG), a leading provider of communication services connecting people through cloud-connected devices worldwide, today announced that it has been granted two new patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office: U.S. Pat. No. 8,483,210, "Method and Apparatus for Voice Traffic Management in a Data Network," and U.S. Pat. No. 8,478,648*, "Apparatus and Method for Automated Inventory Tracking and Authentication."

The '210 patent, issued today, relates to a device that transmits both voice and non-voice communications such as a VoIP (Voice-over-Internet Protocol) telephone adapter. The patented technology maintains the voice quality on calls by automatically adjusting the device's bandwidth.

"This invention ensures that call quality remains high in situations where it could be otherwise compromised, including when the internet connection used for making VoIP calls is also used for other purposes, for example, downloading large files," said Chief Legal Officer Kurt M. Rogers .
