PHYS is a great way to own physical bullion without actually owning physical bullion.  Sounds counter intuitive but it's the truth.  every share of PHYS is backed up with physical bullion unlike something like GLD which invests in all sorts of gold instruments including certificates etc.  I don't trust IOU's or paper in this economy which is why I chose PHYS.  The website is loaded with info.
