Enhancing Children's Behavioral Health with New Training Center
Innovative Partnership to Improve Behavioral Health Training
In an effort to better support behavioral health providers, a contract was awarded to Public Consulting Group (PCG) by Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This initiative is set to establish a Capacity Building Center (CBC) designed specifically to enhance training accessibility for professionals in the children's behavioral health sector.
About the Capacity Building Center
The CBC aims to provide over 200 specialized training courses for approximately 5,000 public mental and behavioral health providers. These professionals are contracted through Community Mental Health Service Programs and Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans. Furthermore, the CBC will also set up Learning Communities which are intended to foster ongoing quality improvement through regular meetings and activities tailored for children's behavioral health service providers.
PCG's Extensive Experience and Commitment
With a robust 35-year background in the public sector, PCG brings a wealth of experience to the table. The firm has established a strong track record of success within health and human services, ensuring effective training and support are consistently delivered. Initial training offerings will cover a diverse array of essential topics, such as Medicaid-funded specialty behavioral health services, Intensive Care Coordination, Girls’ and Boys’ Waiver Programs, and Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluation.
“We take pride in collaborating with MDHHS to empower the state's behavioral health workforce,” expressed Jill Reynolds, PCG's Human Services Associate Practice Area Director. “Our goal is to help Michigan families receive the quality care they require.”
Collaboration with State Health Services
PCG's partnership with MDHHS also includes collaboration with the Bureau of Children's Coordinated Health Policy and Supports. This partnership aims to offer vital resources while enhancing workforce capabilities among behavioral health professionals, ultimately leading to improved service quality for children and families.
Future Plans for Resource Development
The CBC is set to launch its dedicated website in the near future, with plans for extensive outreach and resource availability for providers. This initiative marks an important step toward enhancing the training and support system for mental health services.
