The 'Your Story, Your Legacy' Living Veteran Feature is designed for veterans who are approved for pre-need eligibility for burial in a VA national cemetery. They can upload images, share important life events, autobiographies, and historical documents that will be maintained by the VA.

Once a veteran passes away and is interred at a national or State/Tribal Veterans cemetery, their contributions will be displayed on a permanent publicly visible memorial page on the VLM site. This initiative is a heartwarming tribute, allowing families to honor their loved ones' legacies.

Since its inception in 2019, the VLM program has flourished. Family members and friends have contributed over 165,000 memories to veteran VLM pages. Currently, there are nearly 10 million memorial pages, some dating back to the Revolutionary War. The site features pages for veterans not only interred in VA National Cemeteries but also in VA-funded state, tribal, and territory cemeteries, as well as Department of Defense cemeteries.
The NCA also plans to expand this initiative further, with memorial pages from American Battle Monuments Commission cemeteries expected to be added soon.
