The research relied on survey responses from individuals who participated in internships abroad between 2013 and 2023. These insightful responses came from a diverse group of global internship alumni. Participants included Americans who gained international experience as well as international students who chose to intern within the U.S.
Significantly, results indicated that 81 percent of respondents believed that their global internships greatly contributed to the enhancement of necessary job skills. Moreover, a remarkable three in four alumni credited their international experiences with helping them secure their first full-time positions.

About half of the survey respondents identified as students of color, while 64 percent recognized themselves as from underrepresented backgrounds, such as first-generation college students.
