Overview of Phase 1 Drilling at the Pen Gold Project
KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
- Chabot Target: 3.90 grams of gold per tonne (g/t Au) over 3.5 metres (m), with a remarkable 9.62 g/t Au over 1 m close to the surface. Additionally, a second zone exhibited 2.6 g/t Au over 1.3 m, complemented by over 1% zinc.
- Alpha Target: Returned 1.00 g/t Au over 1.0 m, corroborating the down-dip continuity of a promising 2022 bedrock sample that showed 5.18 g/t Au.
- Foxtrot, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta Targets: Multiple zones revealed considerable mineralization of sulphides, exhibiting rich gold, copper, and zinc values in geologically favorable environments.
- Additional Drilling Data: Awaiting results from five more drill holes targeting the Aljo Gold Target.
- Exploration Budget Increase: The budget has increased to around C$4.4M, particularly focusing on Aljo and other high-priority targets.
- Future Drilling Activities: Planned drilling at Aljo will commence in July 2025, with a program extending 3,000 m to explore potential depth and strike extensions of various zones.
Located in the renowned Abitibi Greenstone Belt, GFG Resources Inc. (TSXV: GFG) (OTCQB: GFGSF) has unveiled significant findings from its Phase 1 drilling program at the Pen Gold Project. This initiative, executed during winter, aimed to systematically investigate multiple targets within the Muskego North Shear Zone, among others.
Insights from GFG's Leadership
Brian Skanderbeg, the President and CEO of GFG, expressed optimism over the drill results, especially at the Alpha and Chabot targets, where substantial gold and base metal mineralization was encountered. The initial drilling validated the Muskego shear system's potential, leading to a promising outlook for the company. With the financial flexibility to expand exploration, GFG is poised for a vigorous second half of the year, particularly focusing on the Aljo target and other prioritized areas.
Technical Summary of Findings
Alpha Target
The first five holes drilled in the Muskego North Shear Zone aimed to confirm valuable past results. Hole MSK-25-004 revealed gold mineralization of 1.00 g/t Au over 1.0 m, supporting the presence of shear-hosted gold. Additional notable findings from other holes included anomalous zinc, highlighting the area's potential for valuable discoveries.
Foxtrot and Other Targets
At the Foxtrot Target, a new anomaly was examined, revealing promising mineralization including 0.3% zinc and 0.14% copper. A similar trend was noted across the Bravo target, where dense feldspar porphyry and felsic tuffs were also identified, hinting at lower-grade sulphide presence.
Charlie and Delta Targets
Drilling at Charlie revealed 0.57 g/t Au over 0.65 m, indicating encouraging signs for future exploration. Meanwhile, the Delta target marked the first substantial drilling through the Destor-Porcupine fault zone, validating its mineralization potential.
Chabot Target Findings
Significant findings at the Chabot target, particularly hole PEN-25-100, intercepted high-grade near-surface gold mineralization. These results suggest a unique gold mineralization model distinct from traditional iron-formation hosting styles.
Notably, GFG undertook a sonic drill program in the Kemur target area, seeking additional data to enhance future drilling targets and an IP survey was also finished to comprehend current target ratings better.
Future Plans for Exploration
Looking ahead to the remainder of 2025, GFG's exploration initiatives aim for expansion, revolving around a rising spectrum of targets and bolstered geological confidence. Drilling at Aljo is set to resume with expectations on extending previously reported mineralized zones while addressing new drill targets. This strategy aims to prioritize and advance exploration across GFG's promising portfolio in the Abitibi region.
Furthermore, prospecting along the eastern area of the Dore Property is ongoing, focusing on areas with promising gold-in-till anomalies established in previous sampling efforts. These anomalies continue to represent compelling opportunities for future exploration phases and drilling campaigns.
