Chair's Statement

It brings me great satisfaction to share the unaudited Half-Yearly Financial Report for Foresight Enterprise VCT PLC. This report highlights a period of challenging economic conditions yet demonstrates a stable performance with a notable 0.4% Total Return per share, emphasizing our commitment to delivering value to shareholders.

Although the broader economic environment faced several challenges, our portfolio thrived, showcasing successful exits and an encouraging pipeline of investment opportunities. This persistence is commendable, especially considering the mixed growth in the UK economy and rising inflation rates.

Looking forward, our dedicated team of investment professionals will continue to assess investment opportunities rigorously, ensuring that each choice positions the company well for long-term growth.

Company Strategy Going Forward

The board is committed to a growth strategy aimed at achieving a NAV Total Return surpassing 5% annually. This strategy includes:

  • Ensuring at least a 5% annual dividend based on the opening NAV per share.
  • Continuing to roll out new and follow-on investments while meeting VCT status deployment requirements.
  • Executing regular share buybacks at a 5% discount while adjusting to market conditions.

Implementing these strategies is pivotal for sourcing attractive investment opportunities and realizing successful exits.

Investment Performance and Activities

The NAV per share experienced a decline of 5.3%, from 54.5p at the start of the year to 51.6p by the end of this reporting period. However, including the dividend reinvestment, the NAV Total Return stands resilient at 54.7p.

In November, the company launched its subscription offer, raising £30.0 million by April. Such initiatives reflect our shareholders' unwavering support, welcoming both new and existing investors.

During this period, we undertook several investments that supported promising ventures. Notably, our exit from Hospital Services Group achieved an exceptional return of 8.2 times the initial investment. This consistent trend of identifying and managing successful investments demonstrates our managerial prowess.

Responsible Investing Approach

Foresight's commitment to responsible investing is seamlessly integrated into our operational framework. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics are crucial in evaluating potential investments. Our goal is not only to drive returns but also to ensure that our investments contribute positively to society.

Shareholder Engagement and Future Outlook

We recently hosted a successful AGM which spurred valuable discussions among shareholders. We encourage participation in future events designed to keep investors informed and engaged.
