Having conducted extensive work in Canada’s most productive VMS districts, such as Finlayson Lake in Yukon and the Ambler District in Alaska, Dr. Piercey possesses a rich understanding of the geologic conditions necessary for these types of mineral deposits. His involvement in VMS consulting and research extends to the Newfoundland Appalachians, a region known for VMS resources.

Dr. Piercey is a University Research Professor in the Earth Sciences Department at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is a professional geoscientist (P.Geo.) licensed in Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, and British Columbia. Additionally, he runs Piercey Geosciences Inc., providing expert consulting services to various mining projects. Being a native of Newfoundland, his connection to and knowledge of the region further strengthen his role.

In 2023, Dr. Piercey was honored with the Duncan R. Derry Medal, underscoring his significant contributions to economic geology in Canada.
